COMUNICADO AO MERCADO Fundo JBS pela Amazônia aprova os seis primeiros projetos de desenvolvimento sustentável que receberão investimento de R$50 milhões
A JBS S.A. (“Companhia” ou “JBS” – B3: JBSS3; OTCQX: JBSAY), nos termos da Instrução CVM nº 358, de 3 de janeiro de 2002, conforme alterada, comunica aos seus acionistas e ao mercado em geral que o Fundo JBS pela Amazônia, constituído pela JBS em setembro de 2020, anuncia os primeiros seis projetos que, em conjunto, receberão R$50 milhões de investimentos do Fundo. O Fundo tem o propósito de impulsionar a promoção de ações de conservação e preservação da floresta, melhora da qualidade de vida das comunidades locais, além do desenvolvimento científico e tecnológico da região. Durante o webinar "Amazônia: Desafios e oportunidades", que acontece nesta quarta-feira (09/06), às 16h, representantes dos seis projetos selecionados entre os mais de 50 inscritos apresentarão as iniciativas. O evento será aberto pelo CEO global da JBS, Gilberto Tomazoni, e pela presidente do Fundo JBS pela Amazônia, Joanita Maestri Karoleski, com apresentação da jornalista Rosana Jatobá. Especialistas convidados que são referência em bioeconomia e desenvolvimento sustentável, como Carlos Nobre, discutirão como é possível manter a floresta em pé, aproveitando o potencial de sua biodiversidade para aumentar a renda e a qualidade de vida da população local. No total, os projetos devem beneficiar mais de 14 mil famílias com a geração de empregos, que propiciarão aumento de renda em até 40%. - RestaurAmazônia: desenvolvido pela ONG Solidaridad, com apoio do IPAM (Instituto de Pesquisa Ambiental da Amazônia), o projeto terá cinco anos para implantar em 1.500 pequenas propriedades sistemas agroflorestais, que integram pecuária, agricultura e floresta. O objetivo é promover boas práticas agrícolas para que as propriedades mantenham sua viabilidade econômica, o sustento dos produtores e ainda ajudem a absorver carbono da atmosfera. https://www.solidaridadsouthamerica.org/brasil/pt
- Programa Economias Comunitárias Inclusivas, nas Comunidades de Bailique e Beira Amazonas, no Amapá: será fortalecida a cadeia do açaí na região e em três anos deve promover ampliação da renda de 240 famílias locais, além da consolidação de um modelo de bioeconomia inclusiva, que pode ser usado para outras cadeias. Estão previstas a construção de fábrica própria para produção de polpa; a ampliação do portfólio de produtos de maior valor agregado; a elaboração de plano para liofilização do fruto, o que diminui custos da cadeia logística; além da construção de escolas e qualificação de jovens e mulheres para atuar na atividade. O projeto será implementado em conjunto por diversas entidades como a cooperativa extrativista Amazonbai (https://www.amazonbai.com.br/), o Instituto Interelos (http://interelos.org.br/), OELA (https://www.oela.org.br/), IEB (http://iieb.org.br), Universidade Estadual do Amapá (http://www.ueap.edu.br/) e o Instituto Terroá (https://www.institutoterroa.org/). - Projeto Pesca Justa e Sustentável: desenvolvido pela Asproc (Associação dos Produtores Rurais de Carauari), fortalecerá a cadeia do pirarucu, com a compra de uma embarcação para processamento do pescado e estudo de viabilidade para construção de uma indústria de processamento. Também estão previstas capacitação e consultoria técnica para as comunidades, com o objetivo de abrir novos mercados para as associações pesqueiras da região do Médio Juruá (AM). O projeto terá dois anos e deverá beneficiar 450 famílias, residentes em 55 comunidades ribeirinhas, com aumento de produção e renda. https://www.asproc.org.br/ - AMAZ (Aceleradora & Investimentos de Impacto): a primeira aceleradora amazônica de negócios com foco no impacto socioambiental de negócios da floresta. Comandada pelo Idesam (Instituto de Desenvolvimento da Amazônia), fomentará a aceleração de 30 startups em cinco anos que serão apoiadas por um fundo com recursos filantrópicos e investimentos privados, além da capacitação e mentoria nos negócios. https://amaz.org.br/ - Alavancagem de crédito para as cadeias da floresta: o Instituto Conexões Sustentáveis vai testar uma metodologia de trabalho que vai, em dois anos, ajudar a liberar crédito para pequenos agricultores das cadeias de valor da castanha, açaí, pescados, madeira, óleos e resinas. the first six sustainable development projects
to receive investments of
R$50 million
JBS S.A. (“the Company” or “JBS” – B3: JBSS3; OTCQX: JBSAY), in accordance with the terms of CVM Instruction No. 358, dated January 3, 2002, as amended, communicates to its shareholders and to the market in general that the JBS Fund for the Amazon, constituted by JBS in September 2020, announces the first six projects which, together, will receive R$50 million in investments from the Fund. The purpose of the Fund is to promote forest conservation and preservation actions, while improving the quality of life of the local communities as well as the region’s scientific and technological development. During the webinar "The Amazon: Challenges and opportunities", which takes place this Wednesday (06/09), at 4 pm BRT, representatives of the six projects chosen from among more than 50 registered will showcase the initiatives. JBS Global CEO, Gilberto Tomazoni, will open the event, along with the president of the JBS Fund for the Amazon, Joanita Maestri Karoleski, introduced by journalist Rosana Jatobá. Guest specialists, who are references in bioeconomy and sustainable development, like Carlos Nobre, will debate what needs to be done to keep the forest standing, while leveraging the potential of its biodiversity to increase the income and improve the quality of life of the local population. In all, the projects should benefit over 14,000 families by creating jobs that will lead to an increase in incomes of up to 40%. Also, the participation of women and young people in community businesses should grow by 30%. Here are more details about the projects: https://fundojbsamazonia.org/en/ - RestaurAmazônia: developed by the NGO Solidaridad, with the support of the IPAM (the Environmental Research Institute of the Amazon), the project will have five years to establish 1,500 small producers agroforestry systems that incorporate livestock farming, agriculture and the forest. The objective is to foster good farming practices so that these properties remain economically viable, able to sustain the farmers while also absorbing carbon from the air. https://www.solidaridadsouthamerica.org/brasil/pt - The Inclusive Community Economies Program, within the Bailique and Beira Amazonas communities of Amapá: the açaí chain in the region will be strengthened and, within three years, should contribute to raising the incomes of 240 local families, in addition to consolidating an inclusive bioeconomy model that can be used for other chains. It is planned to build a local factory to produce pulp; expand the higher value-added product portfolio; draw up a plan to lyophilize the fruit, which reduces the costs of the logistics chain; in addition to building schools and training young people and women for this work. The project will be a joint initiative by several entities, like the extractivist cooperative Amazonbai (https://www.amazonbai.com.br/), Instituto Interelos (http://interelos.org.br/), OELA (https://www.oela.org.br/), IEB (http://iieb.org.br), the State University of Amapá (http://www.ueap.edu.br/) and Instituto Terroá (https://www.institutoterroa.org/). - Fair and Sustainable Fishing Project: conceived by Asproc (the Carauari Rural Producers Association), will strengthen the pirarucu chain by purchasing a fish processing vessel, as well as a feasibility study for building a processing plant. Also included will be technical training and consultancy for the communities in order to open new markets for the fishermen’s associations of the Middle Juruá River region (AM). The project will run for two years and will benefit 450 families living in 55 riverine communities, by increasing production and incomes. https://www.asproc.org.br/ - AMAZ (Accelerator & Investments with an Impact): the first business accelerator in the Amazon focused on the socioenvironmental impact of forest-based business. Headed up by the Idesam (the Development Institute of the Amazon), Amaz will leverage the acceleration of 30 startups in five years, to be supported by a philanthropic resources fund and private investments, as well as training and mentoring at the businesses. https://amaz.org.br/ - Leveraging of credit for the forest chains: Instituto Conexões Sustentáveis will try out a work methodology which, over two years, will help to free up credit for small producers in the nut, açaí, fish, wood, oils and resins chains. Twenty five local activators will be hired and trained to assist small producers in accessing credit on better terms. https://www.conexsus.org/ -Technical Partnership with Embrapa: the initiative will engage in research and develop technologies for adding value to forest produce, with innovations for plant-based foods, raw materials and inputs from plant nanofibers.
